: CHAIRMAN HORACE ANKRAH…Ayeekoo!

Monday, on the date of 9th September 2013 the Chairman of the NDC, UK-Ireland branch, Mr. Horace Ankrah on Multi-TV AM-talk has announced his intention not to contest for the UK-Ireland branch Chairmanship anymore. He went further to entreat the incoming successor to maintain the high in-disputable record he has chalked with his executives. That is with respect to proactiveness, vibrant, well-behaved branch of NDC among others.

Therefoere as UK-Ireland branch of the NDC goes to poll on the 28th/september/2013 to elect new chairman of the NDC and other executives.
Let’s looks at some contributions chalked by the astute, seasoned politician and the Chairman of the UK-Ireland branch, Mr. Horace Ankrah.

To the run up of the 2012 general election campaign, Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah, UK and Ireland Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress, has observed that the NPP has very little to offer Ghanaians at this point and should not be given the chance when Ghanaians go to the polls in December.

Speaking from a Sunyani base, where he has been campaigning for the NDC, the Chairman claimed that “the vagueness of the NPP’s policies in the recent released manifesto cannot be defended”.

Chairman Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah noted that “since the ascendency to the leadership, Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP have been looking at free education for SHS. Few years on there are still no more than few noises here and there without substance and this now seem a pledge that is falling apart with the lack of economic data support to convince Ghanaians”.

He promised that in the very near future, the NDC will systematically take voters through what the NDC and President John Mahama mean by quality education that is on offer; adding that “with the first-gear of our explanation of what is actually needed at this stage of the country’s educational system there is a sign that the call for immediate free SHS education is not even indicating a high index of popularity for the NPP and Nana Akufo Addo. The NDC’s call for a systematic approach to free education seems to be the preferred choice with voters”.

“Furthermore, to repair the corrupt and economic credibility that the NPP lost in office has been a task they have not been able to repair and have not been able to convince the electorate that the NPP is serious about addressing these issues then it is hard to see how the NPP will be trusted to return to power”.

The Chairman concluded by adding that he is convinced that “the NPP is still limping and not ready for office”.

He urged the people of the Brong Ahafo region to vote massively for the NDC and President Mahama.

Chairman Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah, reiterated President Mahama’s observation that for a strong and growing economy, “Ghana must have a high level of skills and if possible zero unemployment”.
He said a Mahama led NDC is committed to achieving that by changing the face of apprenticeship “from the days of a novice learning his trade at a side of a master craftsman to high-tech specialised programmes.” “They should no longer be considered the poor relation of university study or the last resort for those not cut out for formal education.”
Mr Ankrah stressed that “the President has indicated that under his leadership he will create the atmosphere to encourage big businesses to look to apprenticeship as key to developing the expertise and skills needed to grow their workforce, improve employee loyalty, compete in the global marketplace and more importantly address unemployment.”
The UK and Ireland NDC Chairman was reacting to a comment by the CEO of Karma Group of Companies, Dr. Micheal Addo to the effect that failure of subsequent governments to continue Nkrumah’s industrialisation projects and the age of ICT has led to no government being able to address the problem of unemployment of the youth. He was speaking in an interview in Cape Coast over the week-end.
He noted that although the tone of recent campaigns towards the forth-coming general elections has been on education “the President and the NDC party will like to assure Ghanaians that they are also fully committed to zero unemployment policy.”
Mr Ankrah went on to say that financial incentives for small scale businesses, better guidance and a reduction in red tape will be some of the important steps the President and his government will ensure to making apprenticeship more attractive and credible in Ghana.
The Chairman assured that the President is equally passionate about eradicating unemployment as he is about delivering quality education and quality healthcare to the people of Ghana.
“The President and his government will help companies develop apprenticeship strategies to see apprentice growth in a raft of sectors such as IT, sales, health and social care, logistics and creative and digital media to mention just a few,” he concluded.
He urged Ghanaians to vote massively to retain the NDC and President Mahama come December 7, to realise such positive aims for the people of Ghana.
