KNUST Alumni Association of North America Inaugurates

the Midwest and Central KNUST Alumni Association Group Based in Chicago, USA.

The November 22, 2008 KNUST Alumni Association of North America’s sponsored inauguration event in Chicago, USA was a success. The KNUST Alumni Association of North America has been in existence since its inauguration in Washington, D.C in 1999. As part of its membership recruitment strategies the association recently undertook a membership drive in Chicago area.

This led to the inaugural ceremony of the Midwest and Central KNUST Alumni Group in Chicago, Illinois. Overseeing the inaugural event were three members of the National Executives. They were Prof. Samuel Evans Adunyah, National President, Dr. Joe Conduah, National Vice President and Dr. Akwasi Anyanful, National Treasurer. The event was Co-chaired by Professors Samuel Akainyah and Elizabeth Afriyie, who are both alumni members and established residents of Chicago. In his keynote address, Prof Adunyah reminded the alumni who were present that; their key roles include strengthening the overall academic developments of their alma mater, KNUST.

He also reminded the alumni of the role of the association in promoting the professional growth and development of its members and their dependents. The highlight of the event was the election and swearing in of the first executive members of the Midwest and Central Regional KNUST Alumni Group based in Chicago. The new executives are Mr. Bismarck Yaw Asiamah (President), Mr. Peter Danso (Vice President), Mr. Henry Domi (Secretary), Ms. Linda Osafo (Treasurer) and Mr. Dunstan Banafoe (aka Nii Quaye) (Publicity Officer).

The national executive gave the newly elected Midwest and Central Region Executive a full mandate to develop dynamic and effective strategies to expand and sustain the membership of the association. The newly elected executive was also advised to work effectively with the national executive towards achievement of the overall goals of the association. The association, which is a non-profit organization, encourages all KNUST alumni who reside in North America to become active members. The association will hold its 10th anniversary convention in summer 2009 in Chicago.
