Is NPP Grooming The Youth For The Future?

Kwabena Nketiah-Sakyi has been elected as the Youth Organizer for NPP North America.

The North American Branch of NPP has elected young and politically astute member of the party to help lead the youth to build a stronger support for the party in the North America. I interviewed Kwabena Nketiah-Sakyi for this month African Insight.

AI: Congratulations Kwabena, how are you?

KNS: I am fine thank you

AI: You have been elected as youth organizer for your party branch in the North America, how does it feel to be a leading voice of the youth for your political party?

KNS: Well, it is a good feeling to be honored to serve your party and your country?

AI: Why do you think you were elected?

KNS: Because I have been a member of this party from its inception and have dedicated my time to help it grow.

AI: What are your goals to build the youth base of the party and why is it important.

KNS: President John F. Kennedy once said, “The future promise of any nation can be directly measured by the present prospect of the youth” how you invest in the youth today will determine the future. I say how much NPP invest in the youth will determine the survival of the party. I plan to spend time recruiting young men and women who are ready, willing and able to serve Ghana and our party. You have to be ready, willing and able to serve Ghana first before you can serve our party because the plight of the country is paramount to the party.

AI: Interesting. What do you mean by ready, willing and able to serve Ghana?

KNS: It is simple. I am looking for someone that can sacrifice or dedicated his or her life to build our country for the children yet unborn.

AI: Do you think you can find such people in the North America because Ghanaians seem complacent with their lives here.

KNS: I know I can find hundreds of Ghanaian youth that are concern about the future of Ghana. Remember, Rome wasn’t built overnight so as United States. Therefore feeling complacent here in America whiles your country continues to be under-developed sounds selfish. AI: So who are you target group?

KNS: All Ghanaian youth irrespective of their ethnic, educational, religious background. I believe everyone has a way to contribute to a nation building and therefore I will not focus on A certain group of people. Our country is very integrated so as our party.

AI: Kwabena you seem to be concerned about your country and know how to bring people together to think about Ghana. You helped formed Ghana Professionals and Students Union, you were an executive member of Ghana Cyber Group and I know you are also the initiator/secretary of your alma mater, OKESS Old Students Association. When do you find time to do all that, study law and MBA at the same time?

KNS: Nelson Mandela once said, “He who relaxes on his effort would be punished by the generation who is to come. I do this because I have energy to do it now one day someone else shall continue from where I ended.

IA: So after organizing the youth base of your party what would be your next move, do you have bigger political aspirations in Ghana?

KNS: Well, I am young and have many years ahead of me so stay tune. The sky is the limit and the future holds many possibilities.

AI: Do you intend to run for president of Ghana?

KNS: I am young and have many years ahead of me so stay tuned and work hard on your newspaper.

AI: You seem to love politics what made you decide to be “ a politician” so to speak?

KNS: The children of Ghana. Those that wear school uniforms and sell dog chains and cassettes on the road side have become an indelible image in my life.

AI: Wow. Kwabena you sound like you have big dreams to accomplish?

KNS: We must all have such dreams. If all Ghanaian youth are able to dream big and work towards achieving that dream we shall change our country and make it a better place.

AI: So when do you intend to move to Ghana?

KNS: When I am done with the task ahead of me here and after completing my education.

AI: Well, Kwabena I appreciate your time and hope to stay tuned for all the activities of NPP North American Youth Movement.

Kwabena: Thank you and good luck with expanding the readerrship of your newspaper.
