I Will Uphold The Rule Of Law And Provide Good Governance - Akuffo Addo

Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party[NPP] has given the assurance that his government would uphold the rule of law and provide good governance when the NPP is elected into office in 2012.

He noted that the basic requirement for political stability and economic development is to provide for the needs of the populace while ensuring that their rights as human beings are respected and protected.

Nana Akuffo Addo made these comments in Berlin [Germany] where he was addressing local,regional and national executives of the NPP in Germany over the week end.

The NPP flag bearer announced that when elected, his main priority would be the modernisation of Ghana’s economy in which value would be added to our product so as to make them more competitive in the world market.

According to him an Akuffo Addo led government would harness all the human and material resources of Ghana for the benefit of all Ghanaians and told Ghanaians in the diaspora their knowledge, experience and expertise would be an important component in policy formulation, development and implementation.

On the economic crisis facing the country today, Nana Akuffo Addo explained that after almost two years in office, the NDC government has demonstrated that it is incapable of solving the economic problems confronting Ghanaians and has rather resorted to intimidation and patronage..

He stated that Ghanaians are looking up to the NPP to come to their rescue because the government of Prof Mills have failed to live up to the legitimate expectation of Ghanaians adding that the NPP is the party that have the right policies and programmes capable of moving Ghana forward.
On the reform of the electoral system Nana Akuffo Addo advocated for the introduction of Bio-metric registration and electronic voting so as to reduce if not eliminate the incidence of double voting. He argued that such
a system would help strengthen democracy, peace and stability in the country.
The flag bearer, who is in Germany with H.E President J A Kuffour and Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey at the invitation of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, thanked the external branches of NPP for their continued support and urged them not to relent in their efforts to ensure that the party is returned to power in 2010
On his part H.E President J. A Kuffour reiterated that the NPP is a property owning democracy but at the same time have put in place several social intervention programmes aimed at poverty reduction, improving health care and job creation.
The Ex-President cited the National Health Insurance scheme, the National Youth Employment programme, the School feeding Programme and the Free maternity care as some of the social intervention programmes introduced by the NPP government.
Ex-President Kuffour was at pains to point out that instead of building on the solid foundation that has been laid by the previous administration, the NDC government has politicised all these well-meaning programmes and Ghanaians are the ultimate losers.
Earlier in welcome address, Mr Dwamena Yeboah, NPP Chairman in Germany pledged that the Germany branch would support in whatever way it can to ensure victory in 2012.Mr Dwamena Yeboah used the occasion to formally introduce Mr Alhassan Yakubu Talli and Mr Kwaku Anane-Gyinde to the visiting officials as two of the aspiring candidates for the primaries for the Tolon constituency in the Northern region and Kintampo North in the Brong Ahafo Region respectively.
Mr Dwamena Yeboah disclosed that the NPP was victorious in five out of six constituencies adopted by the Germany Branch of the party in the last two elections adding’ We are more than determined to help the NPP wrestle power from the NDC’
In a brief remark, Mr Alhassan Talli said since 1992, the people have been voting for NDC parliamentary candidates who have almost always failed to deliver on their promises and this accounts for the lack social amenities and infrastructural developments in the constituency.
He assured the party that come 2012 the story would be different because people in the constituency are yearning for a change and this change would surely take place in 2012.
