Presents Gospel Reggae Concert in VA

In Northern Virginia, U.S.A, history is being made as people from different nations, continents , cultures and Churches gather for what has come to be known as the annual independence Gospel Gospel concert .

In 2008 , with the support of Pastor Yaw Nkansah at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Woodbridge, Heritage Village Project put together the first gospel concert featuring local gospel artists and groups like Min. CD Porter, Vivian Ofori, Esther Quartey, Glorious Oaks of Righteousness, Praising Showers (Royal House Chapel), Ebenezer Presby Singing Band, as well as dance, mime , step , drum groups and churches from D.C, Maryland & Virginia area, with a powerful and life transforming message from Bishop Eugene V. Reeves , Senior Pastor Of New Life Anointed ministries International. This occasion was also used as an opportunity to bridge the gap between the African and African American community.

Last year, 2009 went to another dimension when youth from many different churches (Apostolic, Springs Gate Chapel, Presbyterian Church, Word Harvest etc) , broke denominational barriers and joined together to do a combined dance to “Yeohwe” an original choreography by Bernard Akoi Jackson , Dorcas otabil and Kojjo Opoku – Reeves.. With an outstanding gift of handling ceremonies, the master of ceremony Edmund Konadu Addae (Chivoo) thrilled the crowd as he introduced Ken Appiah, Okyerema Asante , Cd Porter , Silent Praise Mime Ministry, Orators Seth Opoku, Makaila Davenport and Alice Gyamfi (MLK Oratorical contest finalists). The concert ended with many youth giving and rededicating their lives to Christ.

Without a doubt, Heritage Village is becoming a household name in the gospel entertainment arena as well among the youth .and churches. Heritage Village Project is an organization which partners with churches, organizations, groups and individuals aimed at impacting, educating and empowering young people through various programs to raise awareness of their heritage, and encourage them to fully utilize their talents and God given abilities in ways that can positively transform their lives, other lives and their communities.

On Saturday March 6th 2010 , at 5:30 pm , people from diffirent cultures , nations and races will gather from all over the United States, at Springs Gate Chapel joining with Host Pastor, Pastor Wilberforce Sintim, for the “2010 Gospel Reggae Concert”. This free event themed “United in Praise” will feature a variety of Gospel’s best including, Ken Appiah (Music Rabbi) and the Soul Winners, drum Legend Okyerema Asante, Saxophonist Deron Vinson, Ensemble, Divine Dance Institute and many more. Built on the belief that the youth are the leaders of today and todays impact will produce a positive legacy for tomorrow, Heritage Village Project is a manifestation of the vision given to Kojjo Opoku Reeves (Obronnie) in 1997.

Kojjo believes this will be a platform for the ordinary to meet the extraordinary, young will connect with the elders, the privilege to meet the under privileged, to change lives, one person at a time. Utilizing Ghana’s independence anniversary as a strategic time to accomplish this mission., he hopes to one day build a center to produce, train, equip, train and develop programs to make impact in the community. Born in Tema , Ghana , West Coast of Africa on February 28th, Kojjo is a graduate from the College of Art, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Kojjo served as the Mass Drama President of the Student Chaplaincy Council, KNUST and has been instrumental in helping establish many thriving Arts Ministries both in Ghana and the United States by the grace of God. He is a member and currently works with the New Life Anointed Ministries International founded by Bishop Eugene V. Reeves and serves as the dance ministry coordinator, under the leadership of his mentor Pastor Kathy Austin - Roberson.

Kojjo has been featured in the African Insight newspaper in Virginia as one of the Africans making impact in the community, and continues to minister the word of God through anointed dance, mime , drum presentations, prison outreaches, facilitating workshops for churches and groups. He is a member of the Divine Dance institute , directed by Dr. Amanda F. .Standard in Maryland.

Mentored by Bishop James K. Saah (Ghana) and Bishop Reeves (Virginia) , Kojjo believes he is a product of grace and whatever he is and ever hopes to be is by the grace of God. He challenges young people with the same encouragement from his mentors that whatever you dream about, you can become if you are willing to pay the price. He also believes that our life is a gift from God and what you do with it is your gift back to Him. He owes appreciation to his supportive family especially late Grandma Lucy, Auntie Edith and mom Christians Banning and great friend Eli. Kojjo recently married college friend Awura Boateng and currently resides in Virginia.
