Ghanaians in Minnesota to Celebrate Independence anniversary

Ghanaians in the mid west state of Minnesota are gearing up for the celebration of the 49th independence anniversary of their beloved country, Ghana. The celebration is scheduled for March 11 2006 at the Shoreview community center. The theme chosen for the occasion is: ?The power of U. Living the American dream and helping back at home?

The guest speaker for the event is Dr. Oheneba Boachie ?Adjei an orthopeodic surgeon with the hospital of special surgery in New York. Doctor Boachie-Adjei happens to be the first president of the Ghanaian Association of Minnesota- GhanAM- and is involved in a number of orthopeodic projects in his native Ghana. The focus of GhanAM is to redirect the attention to development projects at home so that we can all help to make the land of our birth worth living for our children and our children?s children.

In the spirit of African unity, a number of African associations have been invited to the event. Invitations have also been extended to our two senators and the council of Black Minnesotans in the spirit of the African identity. GhanAM is using this particular event as a dress rehearsal for the 50th anniversary next year.
