Ghanaians from NYC charged with statutory rape

ITHACA, NY — Two Ghanaian nationals from New York City have been arrested and charged with having sexual contact with underage females in Ithaca.

The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office on Sunday arrested Eunoch Gyamfi, 21, and Samuel A. Frimpong, 20, of the Bronx. They are accused of traveling to Ithaca to meet with three juvenile females with whom they had become acquainted on previous visits, and who range in age from 13 to 15 years old, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Gyamfi and Frimpong are accused of engaging in sexual contact with two of the girls while in a parking lot near the Chestnut Hill apartment complex on Elm Street in Ithaca.

Gyamfi was charged with one count of third-degree rape, a Class E felony. Frimpong was charged with one count of second-degree criminal sexual act, a Class D felony. They were arraigned in Town of Enfield court and ordered held at the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond. They are to return to court at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25.
