Ghanaian makes S/A team for L’Oreal Brandstorm competition

Samson Adu, a Ghanaian studying in South Africa has qualified for the annual 2016 L’Oreal Brandstorm Competition alongside his teammates from the AAA School of Advertising, Cape Town.

Samson together with Ayrton Eastoe and Marc Knowles won the South African leg of the competition and would be representing the country (and Africa) at the world finals which will hold in Paris, France on June 30.

The annual competition, which is open to over 270 universities and tertiary institutions across 45 countries across the world, is unique business competition for students to unleash their creativity and apply ground-breaking ideas to one of L'Oréal's international brands and distribution channels.

Since 1992 Brandstorm has given to more than 80,000 students worldwide the possibility to work on real life challenges and be coached by top L'Oréal executives. Up for grabs this year is whopping 10,000 euros first prize, 5,000 euros for second prize and 2,500 euros for third prize. In addition to the main competition, there is also the People Choice Award and the Best Digital Communication Campaign Award.

As a result of winning the South African competition, the AAA team are set to jet off to Paris to present their marketing strategy, competing on a global level to demonstrate their expertise against top contending universities. They will first compete for semi-finals where each national winning team will make their full presentation, limited to a maximum of 20 minutes to one of the semi-finals juries. Juries will rank students regarding the judging criteria.

Following the semi-finals the selected teams will make their full presentation limited to a maximum 20 minutes to an Executive Jury, made up of L'ORÉAL Senior Executives and/or external personalities.
