Ghanaian Women’s Association of Georgia to hold fundraising dinner on 28th April

The Ghanaian Women’s Association of Georgia (GWAG) is set to hold its third annual maternity ward dinner/dance fundraiser in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

The event which would be held on 28th April 2018 is aimed at raising an amount of $25,000 to help furnish the maternity ward at the Tamale hospital which GWAG will be adopting this year.

According to a statement released by the Association, “Ejura hospital, Tema, Osu and Atibie maternity wards will also be furnished with beds and medical supplies to include delivery and post-delivery beds, mattresses, ultra-sound machines, incubators, bed pans, catheters, stretchers, wheel chairs and more”.

Ghanaian Women’s Association of Georgia - 3rd Annual Fundraising Dinner

Atlanta Georgia – April 2018 - The Ghanaian Women’s Association of Ghana’s (GWAG) is pleased to announce its third annual maternity ward dinner/dance fundraiser in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The wheels were set in motion three years ago when GWAG, following a fundraising effort, successfully procured and donated maternity ward supplies, adopted and commissioned the ward at the Elmina Urban Health Center (EUHC) on September 13, 2016. Additional beneficiaries were Yendi municipal Healthcare center, Korle-bu ICU burns Unit and Oda Government Hospital. Deployment to Adaklo, Ho, Central and Ho West is scheduled for the end of April. As stated by the association’s President Madam Adiza Harruna, “We want to help reduce preventable deaths and make sure that expectant mothers get the basic care they need. It is our honor and privilege to “give back” and make a difference. A shared interest in the welfare of our fellow human beings drives us all to participate and help where we can”

On Saturday, April 28th 2018, GWAG will host a fundraising dinner in an effort to raise about $25,000 to help furnish The maternity ward at the Tamale hospital which GWAG will be adopting this year. Guests will be treated to dinner and activities, including cocktail hour, youth cultural dance, drumming, Fashion show, a silent auction featuring highly sort after items, and exotic meals. Event theme continues to be “Bettering the Maternity Experience One Ward at a Time”. The guest of honor will be Dr. Bertha Serwa Ayi, an infectious disease specialist.
