Ghanaian Community Challenges NUGS - China

On the 3rd October, 2012, National Union of Ghana Student (NUGS) - China held their 24th Annual Congress in GUANGZHOU. The theme of the occasion was “CONTRIBUTING TO THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF GHANA (THE ROLE OF NUGS CHINA). The congress was organized for the out-going executives to hand over to the new executives. As part of the programme, Ghanaian Community Chief Scribe delivered the speech below on behalf of the association.

On behalf of the chairman and entire membership of Ghanaian Community, It gives us a great pleasure to be given the opportunity to address our future leaders at this august occasion. It is a day that will go down in the history books of both Ghanaian Community and that of NUGS-China since it is the first Ghanaian Students are having Annual Congress in Guangzhou.
Mr. Chairman, ladies and gentlemen, Ghanaian Community would like to commend and applaud our government for given most of students here scholarship to pursue further studies in China and also appeal to her to look at technical education since it the only way Ghana can match up with developing countries such as china and brazil.

Ghana our beloved country is endowed with a lot of natural resources and the discovery of oil tells us that Ghana needs to train more students in the area of oil and gas to transform the economy. A time has come for Ghana to stop depending on external loans and grants but rather focus on building man-power skills to utilize the natural resources at our disposal.
Dear students, Ghanaian Community would like to challenge some of you to take up courses in the area of oil and gas so that as a nation, we will not depend on foreign expatriates to manage the oil industry.

Mr. Chairman, ladies and gentlemen I will not take much of your time since most of the things I would like to dive into had been addressed by the chairman but before I take my seat it is important to task NUGS leaders to remind our political parties the need to conduct this year electioneering campaign in decency and decorum. Our politicians should try as much as possible to avoid casting aspersions and peddling falsehood but rather focus on issues confronting the nation. As Christians and Moslems let us unite and pray for our country so that Almighty God shall intervene in this year’s election to avert any possible clash between the two main political parties.
Lastly, let me thank the NUGS leadership especially the organizers for getting us involve in this year Annual Congress event.
LONG LIVE NUGS-CHINA
LONG LIVE GHANAIAN COMMUNITY-CHINA
LONG LIVE GHANA!!!

Thank you and God bless us all!
