Ghanaian Associations – Meet and Support the Taxi Drivers Association

The President of the Ghanaian Taxi Drivers Association Inc, USA, Mr. Isaac Kwaku Duah has disclosed that "plans are far ahead to raise funds to assist some selected hospitals for a better Ghana. The association has been in existence for three years. The aim of the association is to help the members and extend our Support to others, when the need arises, like funerals, celebrations, sickness and helping some of the members pay their rent”

The President of the association explained that they donated $3,000 to the Asanteman Association in New York, when they celebrated their 25th Anniversary. The Taxi Association also gave $1,000 to the Magassa and Soumare Families Fund when their house and possessions burnt down with some unfortunate deaths.

Mr. Kwaku Duah urges every Ghanaian taxi driver's who is licensed by New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission to join the good Association. In an exclusive interview with this freelance Journalist in Bronx last week Tuesday, the President emphasized that the Ghanaian Taxi Drivers Association in the USA, has come to stay for good and urged its members not do any thing that will mar the peace, love, respect and unity that exists.

The General Secretary of the association, Mr George Asare also noted that a special fund raising event will take place on November 29, 2008, at 478 Gerald Avenue, Bronx, NY (between 146th and 149th Streets. The time is 10:00 pm to 4:00am. All are invited to come out to support this Association and its worthy causes.

Mr Asare added that there is a need for Ghanaians back home to live in peace and unity, and not engage in violence before, during and after the December 7, 2008 General Elections, since “we are all one people and one family."
