Ghana national with terror links arrested

NEW DELHI: A Ghana national suspected to have links with militant organisations was arrested late on Monday evening by the crime branch. The accused, Kofy Admork Brown, was nabbed from west Vinod Nagar along with an aide.

The crime branch has seized fake passports and visas to several countries from Brown. He is being questioned by a joint team of IB and Delhi Police, as he is suspected to have arranged passports for militants.

In fact, the seizure of a passport made in the name of Hamid has left the intelligence agencies racking their brains. Brown has not been able to explain who the man in the passport is. "There is reason to believe that the passport is in the name of a Kashmir terror group militant. Help has been sought from the IB to identify him," said a police officer.

Brown was born in Ghana but shifted to India in 1994. Before coming to India he had lived in Egypt, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Nepal. He is said to have visited Nepal several times in the last few years.

Even though Brown claimed to have shifted to India in 1994, he has not been able to state his present address. He, however, claimed to have lived in West Vinod Nagar till three years ago. On Monday, when he was arrested, he had allegedly gone there to meet an old friend. Visas to France and other European countries were seized from him.

Brown, however, has admitted that he got fake passports made in lieu of money.

He apparently charged between Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 for a passport and Rs 25,000 to 35,000 for a visa.
