Ghana Consulate Visit to Worcester, MA

As part of the consular services extension to Ghanaian communities closed to the New York City area, the Ghana Consulate of New York extended its premier visa outreach program to Worcester, MA on September 7, 2007.

The embassy led by its able Consulate General of Ghana to the United States, Mr. Obeng Djan Busia arrived with his team to Worcester, MA on Friday morning, September 7, 2007. The team was met at the office of Divine Enterprise and Tours located at 241 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605 by CEO, Mr. Kobina Gyedu (aka Agya) and Joe Eiwuley, the Managing partner.

Divine Enterprise and Tours is a Ghanaian-based business in Worcester. Divine operates a travel agency that carters to the immigrant Ghanaian and African communities in New England area (MA, CT, RI, NH, ME). It also offers office services, money transfer, fax/copy/scan facilities and is a notary public.

Mr. Busia and his team came to Worcester to assist Ghanaians and naturalized Ghanaian-Americans who need passport services (new, renewal, etc) and visa. The team answered all questions that were of interest to Ghanaian residents. Some of the questions dwelled on the pros and con of dual-citizenship, political and economic issues and current state of affairs with the coming presidential elections in Ghana.

The visa services started promptly at 12:00 PM and lasted to the evening hours. Even with the publicity of the consular services announcement at Ghanaian-based churches, funerals and outdooring unfortunately many Ghanaian missed this golden opportunity because of work and time schedule conflicts.
