Ghana Community Church in Chicago Celebrated Centennial Anniversary with Hosts.

Chicago, May 18 2003… The Fifth Sunday of Easter was the final day marking the centennial celebrations of Augustana Lutheran Church of Hyde Park, the Hosts of The Church of the Ghanaian Community of Chicago for the past thirteen (13) years.

The service was attended by present and past members of the Augustana family and members of Chicago’s Ghanaian Community’s oldest Church,The Church of the Ghanaian Community of Chicago, which uses the Augustana Church facilities for worship free of any fees for the past thirteen years.

The Ghanaians dressed in traditional Ghanaian clothing were distinctly noticed and mobbed by the extraordinarily large attendance by the Augustan’s.

After the service, worshippers mingled and fraternized with each other for an hour over coffee;the Resident pastor, John M. Gorder, who served as a missionary in Nigeria for many years, had a photo-op session with the Ghanaians.
