GCAO organizes leadership seminar for community leaders in Toronto

The struggles of Ghanaians living in Ontario-Canada to bring development to their community are seen in the light of effective leadership. It is therefore in the efforts to move the Ghanaian community in Ontario forward that the Executives of the Ghanaian Canadian Association of Ontario (GCAO) held a leadership seminar for all community associations (ethnic & professional/business) and community church leaders in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

The seminar which was held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 69 Milvan Road in Toronto was aimed at equipping the leaders in the community with skills and information necessary for them to be effective in mobilizing their members to support and participate in community projects and programs that bring development to the Ghanaian community in Canada as a whole.

The facilitators of the seminar including the President of GCAO, Mr. Duodu, the Chairperson of GCAO Advisory Board, Dr. Awafo and, Professor Mensah who is a lecturer at York University in Toronto used the proposed Ghanaian Canadian Heritage Center earmarked for Toronto to sensitize and galvanize the minds of the leaders who attended the workshop to bring their teeming members on board to complete the visions of the Ghanaian community.

The seminar highlighted the crucial need to identify all the key stakeholders in the project as well as understanding their desires and expectations for the proposed project. Then final agreement on the project must be signed by all the key stakeholders. The agreement must be negotiated with the key stakeholders before the implementation stage.

Participants of the leadership seminar were very satisfied with what they received at the workshop and promised to work hard with the Executives of GCAO to move the community forward.
