At long last, Ghana fest is coming to Cincinnati. For the first time ever, the city of Cincinnati and its metro area will be set agog on Saturday September 11th, 2010, from 1pm – 6pm for the historic first time ever Ghana festival, dubbed Ghana Fest.
The venue is at the prestigious Jordan Crossing on 7030 Reading Road. It will be the first ever public display of Ghanaian culture and dance in the state of Ohio.
This festival event is brought to you by courtesy of The Men’s Club of Cincinnati. The organizing committee cordially invites every body of Ghanaian descent, Africans and in fact all friends of Ghana to a taste of Ghanaian culture, dance and tradition.
There will be public displays of traditional dance and drumming, fashion show, durbar of chiefs, games such as ludo, oware, dame (draught) ampe etc, raffle draws and prizes to be won. Many important dignitaries have been invited to grace the occasion. As usual, music will be provided by DJ Afriyie, aka DJ Koolman and his Afrique Soundz. Not missing in action will be the numerous vendors who are prepared to show case their wares. Food for thought is the name given to the assortment of the diverse Ghanaian foods that will be on display. Make sure you whet your appetite and bring your empty stomach for there will be more to eat.
At 10pm the same day, there will be dinner at night at the same venue until 3 am. Miss Ghana fest will be selected and crowned. Entry to the dinner is by a $10.00 donation.
