Family counts time until reunited

SAINT JOHN, N.B., Canada — A Saint John man is frustrated with how long it's taking Immigration Canada to reunite him with his wife and son, who are in Ghana, Africa.

Wyse Agbaku has been trying to bring his family to New Brunswick since his marriage to his wife six years ago.

He won an immigration appeal in May, but Agbaku says he hasn't heard a word from Immigration Canada since.

"The hardest thing is not knowing when they're going to be here," Agbaku says. "I thought by September they should be here, but right now we're going towards December and I have still not heard anything."

Lee Cohen, Agbaku's lawyer, says it's a disgrace that this couple has been forced to wait so long.

But a spokesperson for Immigration Canada says it's not unusual for family members to wait up to a year to see one another, even after winning their appeal.
