Couple assists children's homes

Nkoranza (B/A), Sept. 6, GNA - A couple based in Belgium at the weekend presented items worth GHC 700 to three children's homes at Nkoranza.

The beneficiary homes are Let Kids Smile orphanage, Children of Peace of Christ and Hand in Hand Community, a mentally challenged home. The items, second hand clothing, footwear and toys were presented on behalf of the couple, Mr. Philip Kwame Andor and Ms. Akosua Yeboah, citizens of Nkoranza, by Mad Margaret Darko, President of Brong-Ahafo Regional branch of the National Association of Beauticians and Hairdressers and a relative.

She commended the Director of the Orphanage, Mr Christian Ankomah-Gyan, for adopting the more than 17 children to ensure their proper upbringing and development.

Mad Darko appealed to the public especially well-to-do individuals to support orphans and widows in their communities. She expressed gratitude to Dr Inneke Bossman, a Dutch medical doctor at St. Theresa's Hospital at Nkoranza, for establishing the mentally challenged home which has 70 inmates. Mad Darko said the donors were determined to continue to support the homes and appealed to citizens of the area resident abroad to assist the orphanage.

Receiving the items Mr Ankomah-Gyan and Mad Joyce Twenewaa, head of the nursing mothers of Peace of Christ Community Home thanked the donors.
