Celebrating Ghana in Århus, Denmark.

“At Long Last Ghana your beloved country is free forever”

These words said by our first president osagyefo Doctor Kwame Nkrumah was a welcome news for the entire country about 50 years ago. I am not very sure if the words said by the first president will be a welcome news in modern day Ghana. However, irrespective of all the economic, development and social problems every Ghanaian will agree with me that the country has made moderate gains and I believe we have the right to celebrate as we attain 50 years.

History tells us the Danes first came to Ghana in the middle of the 17th century and became our friends just after the country’s independence and has since become one of our main development partners until now. Ghana currently enjoys goodwill with the international community and I trust that with the good wind blowing in the country now, nothing will stop us from attaining our development dream. Ghanaians have the right to be proud of themselves as we celebrate our golden jubilee. I believe that we must show to the world like we did during the world cup tournament in Germany last year that when you talk about Africa then Ghana stands out.

Over the years all major Ghana activities in Denmark have been held in Copenhagen (Denmark’s capital). Århus the second largest city in Denmark has been left in the dark. This year is going to witness a massive wind of change as the Ghanaian community in Arhus has the honor of hosting all Ghanaians, Africans and friends of Ghana to a “mega bash”. The programme is to celebrate Ghana’s golden jubilee and to show to the people of Denmark that we have come of age. This gathering will also serve as a plat form to rekindle the Ghana association of Denmark, Århus branch.

Her Excellency Ghana’s ambassador to Denmark and the mayor of Århus city will be present to grace the occasion. If you live in Denmark then you don’t have any excuse to stay out of this great gathering of people. Sarturday the 10th of March is the dee day and the place to be is Folkedansernes Hus, Gjellerupvej 83C, 8230 Åbyhøj. The Prgramme starts at 1600hrs (remember its Danish time). Let’s come and meet old friends, make new friends and show to the world the Ghanaian way of life. Let’s all unite and contribute to building the nation Ghana.

Long live Ghana Denmark cooperation. Long live Ghanaians in the Diaspora
Long live Ghana.
