Akufo-Addo wins "Symbolic Landslide Victory"

Nana Akufo-Addo, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was on Saturday, June 7, 2008 given not only a rousing welcome reserved for Celebreties and Super Stars, but also, symbolically won a "Pre-Emptive and Symbolic Landslide Victory", from the Ghanaian Community in Los Angeles, as he rounded up his overseas tour to meet Ghanaians living abroad.

Maverick Politician and former Ghanaian-American Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate, "Osagyefo" Kwame Appiah Boateng, ("KWAME MAYOR") who has carved a "Political Cult Status" as a Fearless Defender of Democracy and Iconic Champion of Human Rights and Civil Rights attended the event, and the Populist Politician who himself was contemplating running for President of Ghana in 2008 conceeded privately that there is no way that any Politician can convincingly beat Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2008 Presidential race, and has therefore deferered his Presidential ambition until a future date, according to a release on his popular Campaign Website : WWW.KwameforPresident.Com.

"Kwame Mayor" is calling for a "Democratic or Bi-Partisan Partnership" with Nana Akufo Addo's Presidential Campaign and cautioned that the only way he would go back and jump-start his independent Presidential Campaign or run under a new Political Party, Uhuru People's Party (UPP) is --- if Nana Akufo-Addo's Presidential team leaves him with no other choice !!! - noting that he has already publicly endorsed Nana Akufo-Addo.

"Osagyefo" Kwame Appiah Boateng, (KWAME MAYOR) said that he was honored and priveleged to have been selected by the Los Angeles Chapter of NPP to be part of the "Welcoming Committee" but has clearly insisted that he is a "Democratic Ally" of the NPP to prevent former Military Junta Leader Jerry John Rawlings from returning to power for the third time.

"Osagyefo" Kwame Mayor said that the speech he was honored and priveleged to write in his role as the Speech Writer on behalf of the "Welcoming Committee" which was eloquently read by the NPP Los Angeles Chairman, Nana Osei Assibbey, spoke volumes of his deep committment to the noble ideals and ideas of democracy and also, his deep committment to prevent the return of AFRC and PNDC style (s) of tyranny to Ghana which His Excellency, President Kufuor accepted a position - with the full knowledge that the same Rawlings whom he accepted a position from, had presided over a Military government which with the tacit approval of Major (retired) Boakye Djan executed former Heads of state and Army Generals such as the brave Okatakyie Akwasi Amankwah Afrifa and the beloved Rear Admiral Joy Amedume.

Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen :

It is a great honor and privelege to welcome Nana Akufo-Addo, the Flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana, --- an outstanding Statesman, First Among Equals - (Primus Interpares), a "Man of the People" and undoubtedly, the most favoured Presidential Candidate tipped to become the "Next President" of Ghana, --- and his entourage to the City of Angels.

This is not a Gettysburg speech, but it is my hope that President Abraham Lincoln would posthumously allow me to immitate his immortalized speech to make a point in Ghana's Democratic experiment.

TwoScore and 11 years ago, our fathers brought forth on the Continent of Africa, a new Nation of Ghana, formerly called Gold Coast --- a Nation conceived in Freedom and which dedicated itself long before independence to the same Democratic principles envisaged by the legendary President Abraham Lincoln of "Government of the People, by the People and for the People".

Among Ghana's Liberation Heroes who fiercely and fearlessly defended the same principles of Democracy that President Lincoln passionately spoke about were three relatives of Nana Akufo-Addo - his Father, Mr. Edward Akufo-Addo, a former President of

Ghana; Dr. J.B. Danquah (Doyen of Ghana's Politics) and Mr. William Ofori Atta ("Paa Willie") .

The election of Nana Akufo-Addo as the next President of Ghana to succeed His Excellency, President John Agyekum Kufuor, the "Gentle Giant", would logically ensure Democratic Continuity and also, ensure that "Government of the People, by the People and for the People" shall endure in Ghana.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Ghana today, under NPP's government is enjoying Democracy unprecedented in the annals of its history.

There are no death squads reminiscent of the Military regime(s) and Quasi Military - Civilian NDC government which once ruled Ghana amid nightmarish experiences.

There are no public executions, no political dis-appearances and no arbitrary arrests and detentions under the ruling NPP government.

Women, who are our dear Mothers and sisters are not publicly stripped naked, beaten and tortured as elements of the opposition Party did when they were in government.

And above all, Ghana's only living Head of State, former Military Junta Leader, Jerry John Rawlings is alive --- thanks to NPP's civilized and democratic government which highly respects the Sanctity of Life - whereas the Patron of the opposition NDC Party, Rawlings, executed almost every former Head of State in Ghana.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Ghana must never go back to the days of the Dark Ages !!!, - the days when the opposition NDC ruled.

NEVER AGAIN !!!

It is for the sake of safeguarding our new found Freedom and to ensure that "Democracy will indeed, never perish on earth" - (with due apology to President Abraham Lincoln) - that we are supporting Nana Akufo Addo to become the next President of Ghana.

Fellow Ghanaians and Friends of Ghana, especially those of you seeking to invest and do business in the Country, let me assure you that Ghana, the proverbial Land of Gold, and a Country which has recently discovered Oil to add to its "Arsenals of Wealth" is at peace with itself and secured at its borders.

The winds of Freedom are blowing at every Hamlet, Village, Town and City in Ghana.

The "Caged Birds and victims of a former brutal Military government in Ghana" who sang like Maya Angelou's metaphorical ("I know why the caged bird sings") - are now Free at Last !!!, under NPP's government.

The Nation, which God willing, Nana Akufo Addo is heavily favoured to become its next President, is at the frontiers of building its own version of "American Dream" - "Ghana's Dream !!!" of unlimited Economic Opportunities and Equal Opportunities for all, regardless of the circumstances of one's Birth, Ethnicity, Tribe, Race or Religious affiliation.

The Spirit of Free Enterprise under NPP's government has unleashed the potentialities of every Ghanaian.

Today, Ghana's economy is strong; our infrastructures have improved, and our educational and health-care systems are far better under the ruling NPP government, than the days when the opposition NDC was in power.

Ladies and Gentlemen, at this juncture, I would like to address the concerns of Ghanaians abroad here to Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP government.

We respectfully appeal to you to utilize the acquired skills, education and talents of Ghanaians abroad in Nation building.

The Birth Right of Ghanaians abroad to vote - (ROPA Law) and to participate in the Democratic process is important to Ghanaians abroad and we hope that you will be in the vanguard in addressing this issue.

It is our hope that despite the good job done in such areas as the economy, education, health, safety and infrastructure, to mention but a few, your government would do more.

Ghana stands to benefit from your Leardership to lead us from the frontiers of a Developing Nation to the pinnacle of a Developed Nation.
