Africa Times" is in the news again

The second edition of ?The Africa Times? will be on the news stand by the third week of February ?08 in the city of Charlotte, and other major cities in North Carolina. The editorial board has decided to increase the number of copies from 3,000 to 6,000 due to the success story of the first publication. Commenting on this, the Editor, Okyere Bonna said ? My outfit is aiming at hitting the 10,000 mark by the third month of publication of the paper?. He said that African business men are day in and out contacting his office on how to have their adverts placed in the paper, this he attributed to the good readership that the paper seem to have enjoyed when it first appeared on the news stands.

According to Kwadwo Mensah, the circulation manager, ?Copies can be grabbed free of charge at the following locations; All African Markets, libraries, campuses of Universities and Colleges found in Charlotte and Greensboro?. He added that patrons can also get their copies in the following communities; African-American, Caribbean and Hispanic in Charlotte. And that plans are far advanced to start mailing copies to readers who will express interest in that type of service.

In trying to preempt what patrons will see and read in the next issue, Kwesi Mensah Munufie (Co-Editor), he hinted that folks will have more to read on the 26th Edition of the MTN African Cup of Nations in Ghana (CAN 2008) which is scheduled to end on February 10th. Other interesting issues to be featured include; Political news on Africa, with the latest on Kenya and Chad. Tourism in Africa with beautiful pictures of scenes and activities captured in Africa. Other features include Africans in the diaspora making headline news. Kwesi Mensah Munufie has therefore asked folks to be on the look out and grab their copies on time when the paper appears on the news stand.

The head of the Sports Desk of The Africa Times, Kwame Amanfoh, also dropped the hint that the paper will be profiling in subsequent editions former African sports personalities who are currently domiciled in the US but are on the quite. He said the essence of this move is to bring to the forth the exploits of these Africans for the younger generation in the diaspora to read about and pick a cue from their contributions to the development of sports in Africa. This he believes will help whip up the spirit of belongingness among these youngsters to the continent of Africa. he added.
