Whilst this is a good example for all, the actual thieves the judges are supposed to go after are the Ghana COCOBOD and goverment officials and politicians who steal from the cocoa farmers. They dont want them to smuggle it so that they can sell it and pocket the money eventually.

If such crucial cases take so long and out of the Media circulation till the sentencing stage, people lose their urgency, and the real impact of the crime on our Society is lost on the Public.
The crime is serious enough to attract a minimum of 10 years per count. Two years jail term is not adequate deterrence for these die-hard criminals. They might have perpetrated the smuggling many times over before being exposed. They would soon get out of jail to enjoy the booty they have accumulated. Heavy fines should have also been added to the jail term to compensate for the cost the Nation incurred in apprehending and prosecuting them. And whilst in jail, they ought to work to pay for their stay in the jail. The Prison must be seen as a form of Rental space that the criminals must pay for, and their food must come from their own sweat, as well, however, poor the meals are.
Long Live Ghana!!!

All the GYEEDA, SADA and ISOTOFON criminals and Woyomegate culprits must all suffer heavy jail terms and made to pay for their room and board in prison, as well. This should be in addition to retrieving all the funds they stole plus interests accrued over the time the funds were in their custody, plus any other costs for prosecuting them.
Until our Judiciary gets that tough with these criminals, our National Assets would always be raided ruthlessly.
The Corruption by all these Officials reverberate through our entire Economy to restrict how much Farmers could get for their Cocoa produce, creating the financial gap that makes smuggling more attractive to those perpetrating it.
One way to reduce the incidence of Cocoa smuggling is to pay our Farmers equal amounts for their produce as the Ivorians would pay.
That brings into the discussion the remarks made yesterday by the Minority Leader in Parliament that the Government is cheating our Cocoa Farmers. He alleged that the Government was paying the Farmers around GH200.00 for the unit of produce while it should have paid them around GH400.00.
That is most unfair to the Farmers. It indicates the Farmers are forced to pay more than 50% taxes for their Gains for toiling to cultivate the Crop. I say 50% of tax rate because after receiving just about 50% of what they deserve to be paid, they are also required to pay income tax on the little they receive as revenues.
The Government seems to be allowing its corrupt Officials to get away with their hefty loots from our Treasury by various means, and balance its books on the back of the poor, hardworking Cocoa Farmers.
That is both morally and legally unacceptable!! If the Minority Leader's contention holds, the Parliament MUST immediately move to retrieve the difference in payment due the Farmers for as long as the anomaly could be to have started, plus interest on the amounts withheld.
Long Live Ghana!!!

this is a good example, and the judges must stop leaving the politicians off the hook, this is what our journalist must be doing and stop sitting on radio and be making noise
