It will not be fair to blame this man alone, society and government must accept part of the blame. This is one of the characteristics of a failing state.

It does not cost much, especially in Africa. let us be our brother's keeper. it is good to do that.Shame on all of us including me for not even initiating care for the disable.

jump into conclusion as why the father did that, forgetting that we as
a country do not think about the welfare of these people with special
disabilities. All the previous governments did little or nothing for the disabled. There should be welfare programs run by individuals, local communities as well as churches
and funded by both the state and some international agencies. The government should set aside some monies to be used to cater for such
programs. Disability should not be seen as hopeless or useless. When properly catered for or trained they would become no burden. Let us not turn our backs to them, for they are human beings too.

This could be the situation with this boy. What a sad story. Both father and son need help. The father should be cautioned and made to sign a bond of good parenthood for the boy, but he should not be imprisoned.
