My brother, being a social worker by profession, i have had the opportunity to deal with some of these guys and you will come to learn a lot from them. Basically, any northern knowing he or she is coming from a poor background is cautioned seriously before s/he attains some age so when you find them around initial they will work with all honesty but when you begin to see them with friends especially these so called city boys, you then have to be careful because they will learn to accept stealing is acceptable in the cities and it makes life easy. It is also a statement of fact that there is no society without bad people and you will have and there are families in the north with a child or two who may go wayward and you find them in the south. Ask yourself this question: Why is it that they will never be alone committing the crime but most of the times with an Akan or other tribes in the south? For instance, how many cars are in the north that a young man of 24+ will be stealing and to send where to sell or do what with but the come down south meet their peers from the south who know the tricks and they deceive them either with the booty they got from previous operations and they get enticed and join the wagon. We can't also forget the unemployment all contribute to these issues. it is sad and when you have the opportunity to talk with them you thank God for giving you what you have.

Ghanaians need to change their attitudes as well. We need to embrace all citizens. Crime occurs among every ethnic group and gender. Criminals come from every family, and tribe. We need to fight crime for what it is. It is prejudice to label any one ethnic group as criminals. Northerners can be just as morally upright or evil as Ashantis, Gas, Ewes, Nzemas, etc.

The legal system only takes advantage of the poor. there are bigger theives alking around freely in ghana today. That is the irony of this harsh sentence. They need to be punished nonetheless.
