A 29-year-old auto mechanic has been remanded into police custody by the Nsuta Circuit Court for allegedly buying a 50-inch TCL television set stolen from a tomb at Nwase Cemetery near Asante Mampong.
According to an Obaapa TV news report, the accused, identified as Yussif Sammed, alias Isaac, reportedly admitted purchasing the television for GH¢650, although its estimated value is GH¢4,000.
The prosecution told the court that the television was allegedly stolen from the tomb of a late chief of the community by an accomplice, identified as Atta Nketiah, who is currently on the run.
A tricycle operator, Clifford Baah, was also said to have transported the television after it was stolen.
The television was subsequently recovered from Sammed’s room at Mampong Zongo.
During the court proceedings, Sammed pleaded guilty with an explanation, claiming that he had given Nketiah money as financial assistance and expected him to retrieve the television and refund the money.
The court remanded Sammed into police custody, and the case was adjourned to November 3, 2026.
