The Ghana Police Service in Tema has intercepted 866 parcels of a substance suspected to be cocaine, allegedly concealed in sacks of gari and konkonte and being prepared for export.

Three suspects, including a Dutch national and two Ghanaians, have been arrested in connection with the consignment.

According to a report by Graphic Online, the seizure was made during an intelligence-led police operation at about 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Sources close to the operation told Graphic Online that the suspects were arrested while allegedly supervising a group of men loading sacks of gari and konkonte into a 40-foot container at a warehouse within the Tema Port enclave.

The operation reportedly uncovered 866 parcels of a white powdered substance, which police suspect to be cocaine.

The suspects, along with the truck and the intercepted parcels, have been taken into police custody as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the police are expected to conduct further checks and forensic analysis to establish the exact nature of the substance and determine the circumstances surrounding the attempted export.
