The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has met with the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur, to discuss strategies aimed at modernising Ghana’s fishing sector.

The meeting focused on practical interventions to improve the efficiency and sustainability of fishing activities across the country, with particular attention to energy-related challenges affecting fisherfolk.

Key areas of discussion included improving access to and the supply of premix fuel, as well as promoting the adoption of alternative technologies such as solar-powered and gas-powered outboard motors.

Dr Jinapor said the collaboration is intended to support the transition towards more innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions that can increase productivity while protecting Ghana’s marine resources.

The engagement forms part of government’s broader efforts to enhance the livelihoods of fishing communities, improve operational efficiency within the sector, and encourage the use of cleaner energy technologies.
