Yes, and some were issued with fake Military Uniforms and bandied themselves as the custodians and protectors of that stupid nasty Revolution led by a bastard and a Social Deviant named Rawlings, Boakye Djan and the Sogakokpe Maniacs and Morons.
I know some of them who brandished such Assault Rifles, beat and tortured innocent civilians over issues like falling in love with the same woman, or such nasty Revolutionaries trying to take the Girlfriend of a civilian. Nkwantabisa and his accomplices were extremely guilty of that. I am glad he was fired from the Military and became a miserable man before he died.
Until the time of the AFRC, the Ghanaian populace were not used to the brandishing of AK 47 Guns in public but the mad tyrant made it possible.
