Ishmael Odoom, the assembly member for the Agona Asafo Electoral Area in the Agona East District of the Central Region, has reportedly sustained a gunshot wound during a robbery attack in the community.

According to reports by citinewsroom.com, the incident occurred around 5:00 pm on Thursday, March 5, 206, when armed robbers opened fire while targeting shops, vendors, and bystanders in Agona Asafo.

"The sporadic gunshots caused panic among residents and traders as the assailants reportedly made away with an unspecified amount of cash from their victims.

The assembly member was hit by a stray bullet during the incident," it stated.

According to the report, Ishmael Odoom is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

'He was rushed to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital, where he received initial treatment before being referred to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital for further medical care,' it stated.

Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive for the Agona East District, Samuel Oscar Mensah, has assured residents that the District Security Council will implement strategies to strengthen security and prevent similar incidents.
