The Ghana Police Service has re-arrested Abdul-Aziz Iddrisu, a 33-year-old suspect wanted for his alleged role in the killing of General/Constable Seth Oppong Damoa and the shooting of two other officers at the Kariminga police barrier.

In a statement, the police said the arrest was carried out on February 17, 2026, during a joint intelligence operation led by personnel from the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID) and personnel from the Upper East Regional Police Intelligence Division.

“The suspect and his accomplices, who are still at large, had been on our wanted list for carrying out a deadly attack on police officers,” the statement said.

“G/Const. Seth Oppong Damoah was shot dead, while G/Cpl. Nyanku Charles and G/Cpl. Abu Moro were fatally injured during the incident," the statement said.

The police said a search of three mobile phones recovered from him revealed that he has been actively involved in the protracted Bawku conflict and has allegedly participated in multiple killings.

"Further search on his phones also revealed that suspect belongs to a WhatsApp group called Trusted Friends with the image of Alhaji Seidu Abagri a rival chief of the Bawku chieftaincy dispute as their profile picture. A group mainly patronised by Moshies and Mamprusis," it noted.

The police also recovered videos showing Iddrisu displaying AK-47 assault rifles and pistols, while an audio message suggests he requested additional arms and ammunition to aid his faction in the ongoing conflict.

“Information further indicates that Iddrisu and one Mark, who is still at large, are behind the importation of weapons and ammunition into Bawku,” it added.

The police further stated that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accomplices.

On 17/02/2026 about 1230am personnel from NPID/ACCRA in collaboration with UER/PID personnel in a joint intelligence led operation apprehended Suspect Abdul-Aziz Iddrisu @ Baaluuse aged 33 from his hideout at Polego a suburb of Bolgatanga. Suspect and his accomplices yet to be arrested have been on the wanted list of the police for carrying out an attack on the police at Kariminga police barrier where G/Const. Seth Oppong Damoah was shot dead while G/Cpl. Nyanku Charles and G/Cpl.

Abu Moro were fatally injured. The suspect has been identified as a warrior for one of the feuding factions in the Bawku, conflict. A brief search on three mobile phones taken from him suggest that suspect and others at large have participated actively in the protracted Bawku conflict and has also killed a lot of people.

Further search on his phones also revealed that suspect belongs to a WhatsApp group called Trusted Friends with the image of Alhaji Seidu Abagri a rival chief of the Bawku chieftaincy dispute as their profile picture. A group mainly patronised by Moshies and Mamprusis. Suspect is also seen in a video displaying a number of AK 47 assault rifles in a suck and Pistols at a location believed to be in Bawku,.

He is also captured in an audio message requesting for more arms and ammunitions to enable the Mamprusis defeat the Kusaasis in the on-going war .

Information available also indicates that suspect and one Mark at large are behind the importation of weapons and ammunitions to Bawku.

Information further indicates that on 29/12/2025 suspect and his accomplices at large planned and launched attack on the police performing their lawful duty at the Kariminga barrier. That suspect went into hiding until the police traced him to his hideout and apprehended him, below are pictures of suspect, videos and pictures extracted from his phones.
