As a friend of this great player dating back to the early seventies while playing for Syracuse and Rochester, I witnessed and enjoyed Frank's absolute understanding of soccer. He knew how to weave through the stiffest formation and was always ready to combine prowess with sportsmanship - a mark he cultivated to win respect in the highest circles of MSL and ASL. Frank Odoi knew where weknesses resided in most teams and helped managers to recruit the most suitable fittings - usually in the moulds of Gladstone Ofori, Agyemang Gyawu and Mfum. His contemporaries undoubtedly hold him in high esteem not only for his humility or as a pioneer of American soccer but also as an active fountain of knowledge often tapped by many MSL coaches to draw advice on critical issues.
I agree with the writer : Frank will be a definite resource.

I do remember Frank Odoi very well, in the 60s. Is he still alive? If he is alive then Frank Odoi, must be in his 70s very close to 80. Could I be right?

Frank Odoi must be not less than 70 years old. He was a member of Accra Real Republicans of Accra, one of Kwame Nkrumah's Model Clubs. One other being Cornerstones(Kumasi) and Independence (Sekondi?). As a member of the Black Stars He was given a nickname like all the others by Ohene Djan (or probably Kwame Nkrumah himself). He was "V.C.10" because of his superb ball control matched with speed. (V.C. 10 was then the latest fastest aeroplane). F.O.(V.C.10) in the Black Stars played and along with Jones Attukweifio (Talented Footballer), Addo Odametey (Pivot of Defence), Dodoo Ankrah(Magic Hands), Ose Kofi(Wizard Dribbler), Aggrey-Fynn(?), Salisu(?), Edward Acquah(?) etc.

Frank Odoi shone so much at the Olympics in Tokyo(Japan) and became the cynosure of all the pressmen and women across the globe. We admired him so much but OH!!! No pictures, No videos, "No Nothing" - apologies to local parlance.

If he could be reached for advice / consultations why not?

VC 10 is alive and kicking. I personally saw him in church at Christ The King Presby Church in Maryland last two sundays. I was quiet impressed by his health.

Made up of retired players from Premiere league. One of their best players currently is Thierry Henry-Washed up player for the NYC Red Bulls. And to think that he could scout guys from America to represent Ghana in the world cup is funny to me. FYI the Black Stars Squat is set already on stone. They are all just awaiting word from the coach as to when he will pay them a visit.ANd then you will pretty much know that you will be playing in Brazil. And by the way, admission to the Black Stars is from the under 20 and under 17 division players from Ghana. So look out for any player that Akwesi Appiah will visit from now on. I would rather employ Stephen Appiah as a scout for Black stars at this point in time, than a retired college coach from USA. Be for real guys.

The last match Frank Odoi played was at the Accra Sports Stadium for Great Olympics. He played so well that an American lady snapped him away and the next thing I heard was that she had taken him to the U.S. Case closed.
