Former Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo has criticized the Ghana Football Association for what he terms irrational expectations of the Germany defeat that resulted in his dismissal in March.

Speaking to German football outlet 11Freunde, Otto Addo revealed that the federation terminated his contract without any official explanation just 72 days before the 2026 World Cup, despite him successfully securing Ghana's qualification for the tournament.

Otto Addo maintained that judging his tactical project on narrow friendly defeats to elite European nations like Germany was entirely flawed.

The former Ghana international described a volatile and highly reactionary working environment under GFA President Kurt Okraku, noting that internal pressure made it nearly impossible to build a stable long-term team.

“I still, to this day, haven’t understood the reason. The expectations from our federation president were simply too high.”

His sacking came immediately after a 2-1 friendly defeat to Germany in Stuttgart and a 5-1 loss to Austria.
