Olympics target Champions League

Accra, July 26, GNA 96 The outgoing Board Secretary of Accra Great Olympics, Mr Richard Oblitei Solomon has predicted a Great Olympics triumph in the upcoming GT Premier League to give the Wonder Club an opportunity to participate in the MTN/CAF Champions League next year. Mr Solomon, who departs to Malabo next week to assume duty as Ghana's Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea said the stability that existed in the team at the moment, coupled with the new structures that had been instituted in the club makes Olympics potential champions. He said Messrs Pannell Kerr Forster, auditors of the club had completed auditing the accounts of the club for the 2002, 2003 and 2004 seasons and were awaiting confirmation of specific figures by creditors of the club to wind up their work.

Mr Solomon explained that the procedure was only a check on the correctness of the figures and not a notice to refund monies expended on the club by people who contributed to the running of the club. =93Their contributions will however not be written off but will be on record so that when the financial base of the club becomes strong, they could be paid.=94

The former Board Secretary said when the auditors closed their work, Olympics would have to furnish the details with the GFA as a requisite that would allow for the floatation of shares. =93The era of instability in Olympics is over; we are very united and focused and when shares are floated, Olympics will be seen as a very well organised club with a prudent management structure that will ensure we achieve our targets 96 to win the league."

Mr Solomon promised supporters of the club that the financial base of the club would be reorganise to strengthen it in readiness for Africa.

He reassured all stakeholders in the team that he would be with them in spirit, while performing his diplomatic duties in Equatorial Guinea and would keep in constant touch with them without reneging on his commitment to the club.

"I will do whatever I need to do to support the club while I am away," he said.
