Quaye Threatens Zamalek Exit

Cairo ? July 20, 2006

Ghana-born Awuley 'Junior' Quaye is threatening to leave Egyptian giants Zamalek after accusing the club of failing to pay him.

But Zamalek, who will compete in next year's MTN CAF Champions League, have denied the claims as Quaye threatened to leave and claim status as a free player if his contract was not respect.

"We are paying him according to his contract that is registered in the Egyptian Football Association," Zamalek spokesman Alaa Meklid told 'Al-Akhbar'.

Quaye was due to receive US$280,000 before the start of the new season, according to his contract, later amended so that he would receive $70,000 before the start of the season and the rest of his money paid in installments and according to number of appearances throughout the season.
