Ghanaian football administrator Dr. Randy Abbey has expressed his concerns about the poor condition of stadiums in the country, an issue that has gained significant attention.

He criticised the authorities for failing to implement effective measures to maintain the various stadia to international standards for hosting foreign matches.

Randy, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of pitches in Ghana.

"How is it that the Republic of Ghana, from the Gold Coast to now, has no venue to play qualifiers, not even for a tournament or finals? We don't have a single one, and we will have to play matches outside the country. Even Samartex and Nsoatreman, if they qualify for the next stage of the CAF competitions, will have to play their matches elsewhere," he said during Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV.

This follows CAF's withdrawal of approval for the Baba Yara Stadium due to issues like an uneven playing field, poor drainage, and inadequate grass cover.

The decision came after the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying match between Ghana and Angola on September 5, 2024.

In response, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has instructed the Ghana Football Association to invite CAF officials to inspect the Accra Sports Stadium and the Legon Stadium to determine if they meet the requirements to host Black Stars games.
