Eric Akwasi (R) alleges that Baba Rahman (M) called Otto Addo (L) for a return to the Black Stars Eric Akwasi (R) alleges that Baba Rahman (M) called Otto Addo (L) for a return to the Black Stars

Fresh allegations have emerged surrounding Baba Rahman’s return to the Black Stars, with the uncle of defender Derrick Köhn claiming the left-back made efforts to return to the national team months before finally earning a recall.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM, Eric Akwasi Agyei alleged that Rahman personally approached former Black Stars coach Otto Addo in February 2026, to make himself available again for national team selection after previously stepping away from the squad.

According to him, Otto informed him of Rahman’s decision against playing for Ghana following heavy criticism and insults directed at him and his family during his time with the national team.

Otto Addo told me that he called Baba Rahman but he said Ghanaians insulted him and his family so he will never play for Ghana,” Agyei alleged.

However, he claimed the PAOK defender later changed his mind and reached out in an attempt to return to the setup, only to be overlooked by Otto Addo despite being available for selection.

“Just this February, before his sack, Otto Addo got a call from Baba Rahman and revealed his intent to return to the Blacl Stars but Otto Addo declined,” he added.

The comments come after Baba Rahman was recalled to Ghana’s latest squad by new head coach Carlos Queiroz ahead of the pre-2026 FIFA World Cup friendly game against Wales.

Baba Rahman’s return has become one of the biggest talking points surrounding the current Black Stars squad after over two years away from international football.
