Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong, has said that Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz made the right choices in his squad selection.
He explained that the inclusion of Ernest Nuamah does not surprise him because Queiroz mentioned the player during his interview with the GFA for the Black Stars job.
The GFA ExCo member noted that despite Nuamah’s injury, the coach reviewed his records and believes he will be fully fit to deliver for the team.

Speaking in an interview with Kessben FM, Acheampong clarified that the Portuguese coach would have picked Kudus Mohammed if he had been fit in time to feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“I knew Nuamah could go to the World Cup because of what he has shown, and because Queiroz mentioned him during his interview. The coach was hoping he would get fit for the tournament. He was working with some of the available players like Jordan and Nuamah in Wales while the Mexico friendly was taking place.
"During the final squad announcement for the World Cup, the coach will explain the inclusions and exclusions of players to ensure everyone understands. Kudus would have been the first name on the squad list if he had been fit in time for the tournament,” he said in Twi.
The Black Stars are preparing for their friendly against Wales before wrapping up their preparations for the Mundial.
Coach Queiroz will announce the official squad for the tournament on Monday, June 1, 2026.
