GPHA donates to PFC accident victims

Tema, May 11, GNA - Management of the Tema Fishing Harbour branch of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) on Thursday presented food items and five million cedis cash to workers of the Pioneer Food Cannery (PFC) involved in a motor accident on the Accra-Tema beach road last Thursday.

The items included provisions, bags of rice, soft drinks, toiletries and five million cedis cash.

Six workers of the company lost their lives and several others received injuries on their way to work on a Kingdom Transport Services bus when the accident occurred.

Mr Kwadwo Adansi Bonnah, General Manager of the branch expressed GPHA's condolence to the bereaved family and wished the injured speedy recovery.

Mr Daniel K. Opoku, Employee Relations Manager of PFC said the accident had affected the company and plans were underway to bury the dead. He said 19 of those who received injuries were still on admission at the hospital and responding to treatment. 11 May 06
