ABC/FA Cup promotion: 19 to share ?5m

NINETEEN sport fans who emerged overall winners with the highest scores in this year's ABC/FA Cup Golden Lager '97 Plus promotion organised to promote the competition, will share the prize money of ?5 million at stake. Each winning sports fan will receive a cash prize of ?263,157 plus ABC/FA Cup T-shirt. Attracting a record 158,663 entries, the promotion afforded Ghanaian sports fans the opportunity to predict the two teams to play in the final of the 1997 ABC/FA cup competition, with the final scoreline as well as name the three players to emerge the best overall player, best defender and the competition goalking with their respective clubs and share in the prize money at sake. It will be recalled that Tema Ghapoha FC beat Okwawu United FC by a lone goal to annex this year's ABC/FA Cup with Kofi Deblah of Obuasi Goldfields FC emerging the competition's ABC Bubra Stout top scorer with five goals to his credit. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has also confirmed Isaac Boakye of Tema Ghapoha FC as the ABC Golden Lager Best player of the competition with Thomas Frimpong of Okwawu United FC as the ABC Golden Bubra Best defender. Isaac Boakye will thus receive a cash prize of ?1.5 million, Kofi Deblah - ?1 million while Thomas Frimpong will receive ?500,000 as his prize money. Graphic
