FC Copenhagen coach Ståle Solbakken has dismissed reports linking Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey with a return to the club.

Amartey last featured in the league for the Foxes since breaking his ankle against West Ham in 2018.

The 25-year-old is said to be looking to end his nightmare at the King Power Stadium when the summer transfer window opens.

Reports have linked the versatile guardsman with a return to FC Copenhagen this summer.

However, the club’s gaffer Ståle Solbakken has shot down the claims, saying his outfit do not have the means to afford his wages.

“He said he wants to go home [to Copenhagen],” Solbakken told Denmark’s BT.

When asked if the Danish club has the budget to sign Amartey, Solbakken said: “No, we don’t, not [even] close.”

“But I don’t think he’s going to be expensive in the transfer market because Leicester want to get rid of his salary. But I don’t think it’s going to be here and now.”

Amartey, interestingly claimed both the Danish league title with FC Copenhagen, and the Premier League title with Leicester in the 2015/2016 season, after joining the English side in January 2016.
