Kwamena Ahwoi Quits NDC?

Kwamena Ahowi resigns as NDC?s director of research

Mr Kwamena Awhoi says he has resigned his position as Director of Research of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

"In a letter addressed to the Acting General Secretary of NDC, 'attention Mr Bede Ziedeng' and a copy of which was made available to the GNA, Mr Awhoi did not assign any reason for his action."

His resignation follows what appears to be a continuing power struggle in the country痴 largest opposition party.

Factions opposed to party chairman, Dr Obed Asamoah and loyal to founder, former president Rawlings, are at their lowest ebb yet in the party痴 internal relations.

NDC firebrand Dr Tony Aidoo, seen as one of the founder痴 henchmen, is currently facing the party痴 disciplinary committee for being outspoken in his analysis of the NDC痴 fortunes without Jerry Rawlings.

Mr Ahwoi who has handed in his resignation told Joy News, his decision was because he feels limited in efforts to resolve the party痴 internal disputes.

・I am on good terms with members of the executive, I知 on good terms with Dr Tony Aidoo. The executives appear displeased with some utterances of Dr Tony Aidoo.

But for as long as I am with the executive, I am seen as part of the people who are making the protestations. I want to be an independent member of the party so that I can use my experience to resolve the matter,・he said.

Mr Ahwoi, a former minister for local government and also regional integration under the NDC administration is considered one of the brains and strategists of the party.

He has communicated his decision to the General secretary of the party but remains a member of the NDC.
