Legendary Ghanaian boxer Azumah Nelson will be inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame later this year.

The three-time world champion has been listed alongside ten boxers to be celebrated at a ceremony scheduled for August 7 and 8 at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas.

The list of inductees also include four prominent non-fighters who contributed significantly to the popularity of the sport.

Azumah is widely regarded as the greatest boxer to have emerged from the African continent and is already a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

At the peak of his prowess the ‘Boxing Professor’ as he is affectionately called fought and defeated the likes of Jeff Fenech, Marcos Villasana and Jim McDonell.

He dominated the WBC featherweight and super featherweight division and etched his name in the annals of world boxing.

Azumah hanged his gloves with an impressive record of 47 fights; 39 wins (28 KOs), 6 losses and 2 draws.

With his Azumah Nelson Foundation, the boxing icon has embarked on several charity projects.

Periodically, the foundation stages boxing bouts which brings together the young and talented boxing and offer them a platform to sell their craft.
