  Joe Appiah as he was affectionately called was my dad's friend and political associate, right from the early days of CPP. When the Justice Party was formed, my father became the Regional chairman and I clearly remember having breakfast with him and his entourage at the Bolgatanga Catering Guest House with the likes of ERT Madjitey,and many prominent members of the opposition.
  He was extremely extraordinary when it comes to political oratory. He spoke the Queen's language with the finesse, young scholars like us prayed to emulate. He was more often than not, found wearing traditional Akan cloth wrapped over his shoulder.
  We were told, that when it comes to law,the English law, he was a luminary and much feared by Nkrumah. Tales of his court cases victory became legendary. He was an upright man who believed in Justice and was ever prepared to die for it. The date fixed for the independence of Ghana was first suggested by Joe Appiah. He my mentor and role model and a classic example of racial integration. A bridge between African nobility and Western aristocracy for the service and benefits of humanity. All these became possible because Mommy Peggy was always behind him, giving all the needed encouragement and support.
