PLAYBACK: 'Newsfile' on JoyNews

Yesterday's discussions on Newsfile on Joynews panned across topical issues which occurred during the week with interesting analysis from the panelists.

Host, Samson Lardy was joined by Samuel Okudzeto, MP for North Tongu; Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, Editor-In-Chief of New Crusading Guide; Randy Abbey, Host of Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV; and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister for Information on this weekend's edition.

The NMC ruled that the Joy News documentary on the presence of D-Eye group at the Christiansborg Castle was in the public interest but cites aspects as sensational.

Samuel Okudzeto was of the view that government should should not have gone to NMC while Nkrumah the ruling is an opportunity for sober reflection for Joy FM, other media houses.

Also discussed was the $4.5m expenditure for Ghana’s participation at this year’s AFCON in Egypt. The revelation by Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah has not sank down well with many dissatisfied with the Black Stars abysmal performance at the tournament.

The panelists touched on the exoneration of former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, from allegations of corruption.

Despite an ongoing parallel investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, the Daily Graphic on Monday reported that a probe conducted by the Police concluded that Mr Bissue did not circumvent the laid down procedures of the IMCIM hence cannot be found culpable of any offence.
