NABCO trainees undergo training to revamp zonal councils

Personnel of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region have undergone capacity building training by the Municipal Assembly to revive zonal councils in the Municipality.

The workshop is to equip the personnel, chairpersons and acting treasurers of the councils on how to prepare work plans and budget to effectively manage the zonal councils.

Mr Jonathan Azasu, Executive Director of Zirmacon Multi-Consult, who took the participants through the training said for zonal councils to function properly, members of the Unit Committees and Assembly members ought to know their roles to avoid conflicts.

Speaking on zonal councils functionality under the Legislative Instrument(LI) 1967, Instrument 2010, the Consultant underscored the importance of zonal councils to community development and the need to educate stakeholders on changes and updates regarding the Councils for proper execution of tasks.

He urged members of the zonal councils to submit returns to the Municipal Assembly, quarterly administrative returns including; development programmes and progress report and monthly revenue and expenditure financial statements to the Assembly as stipulated in the LI 1967.

Mr Azasu admonished members of the zonal councils to seek directions and approval of the Assembly before executing their functions under the LI.
