Member of Parliament for Builsa South Dr Apaak has laughed at claims by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia that embassies will soon demand for digital addresses before approving visas for prospective applicants.

The legislator has called on the second gentleman of the land to rather focus on delivering on the promises given Ghanaians and stop ridiculing himself on daily basis.

He has also admonished government to tell Ghanaians the outcome of the Australian visa scandal instead of the clearing done by President Akufo-Addo.

The Vice President Dr. Bawumia has suggested that embassies operating in Ghana may soon start demanding digital addresses from Ghanaian visa applicants.

Delivering the keynote address at the 2nd Stakeholders Conference under the theme ‘Leveraging Economic Diplomacy for Ghana’s Industrialization Agenda’, the Vice President said the embassies will be able to better assess the credibility of visa applications going forward, if they make digital addresses a requirement.

“Increasingly, the digital address is being required for you to be able to register for SSNIT or for national ID. If you do not have your digital address you will not be able to register for national ID. We are going to be using it and I am sure even the embassies that are here will increasingly require National Digital Address of anybody in applying for a visa so you can know exactly when to apply for a visa.”

But Dr. Apaak has laughed off the position taken by Dr. Bawumia asking: ‘’How is it possible that no one has been held accountable for visa fraud? These are the questions the Australian and other embassies are asking! They are not interested in making your digital address system a requirement for visa application, if they did, they will say so! In any case are you their spokesman?’’

Mr. Vice-President! Digital Address for Visa Application? Aaaaaba, has it come to this? Blackmail Ghanaians! You are willing to betray us just to keep your pet project alive and justified! In which part of the world is this the case, a digital address as a condition for a visa!

By the way, the foreign embassies in Ghana have heightened their scrutiny of Ghanaian visa applicants because your government failed to hold anyone accountable for the disgraceful Commonwealth Games visa scandal; Gold Coast, Australia! Ghanaians are yet to see the so-called report on the basis of which your Boss cleared his appointees alleged to have been involved in this visa fraud!

How is it possible that no one has been held accountable for visa fraud? These are the questions the Australian and other embassies are asking! They are not interested in making your digital address system a requirement for visa application, if they did, they will say so! In any case are you their spokesman?

Focus on delivering on your promises, for time in running out: 1D1F, 1V1D, 1C1M!

I remain a citizen and not a spectator.
