The sod cutting train for the construction of Youth Resource Centres across the country landed in Brong Ahafo today and the good people of Dormaa-Ahenkro will nine months from now boast of a multipurpose Youth Resource Centre.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah has extended the government's sports infrastructure initiative to the Brong Ahafo Region.

The sod cutting ceremony was the seventh of the ten ceremonies for the construction of ten Youth Resource Sports Centre of Excellence across the nation.

And like the other sports centres, the close to GHC7-million facility will house a FIFA standard football pitch, an eight-lane athletics track, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, floodlights counselling centre, ICT/ Entrepreneur centre, modern restaurant, Maintenance Unit and washrooms.

The Sports Minister reiterated government's belief in the youth which has manifested in a number of policies and initiatives.

He lauded the efforts of Nana Agyemang Badu II to the development of Ghana sports and called on others to emulate his patriotic works.

He said "Let's learn the from Nana Agyemang Badu II. His passion for sports is unparalleled. Sports is big, its commercial sense is awesome. Talents abound, what is lacking is facilities; hence this project. You have shown your love for football in your dealings with Aduana Stars. It is president Akufo-Addo's vision for my outfit to use sports to create more opportunities for the youth."

Dormaa Chief, Oseadeyor Osaagyefo Nana Agyemang Badu II said "Ghana is big, Nana Addo could have taken the project anywhere in BA, but chose Dormaa. I travel and I see sports infrastructure doted around, and I think that is the way to go."

He added "I have observed Honourable for some time, and have realized he is diligent, I thank him for his astuteness. He has demonstrated that he can take Ghana sports a notch higher. The Accra Stadium renovation speaks volumes and attests to the fact that the project would be completed as promised. I support development of any form, I will ensure that we esteem maintenance of the facility."

Project consultant, Joe Hackman promised to complete the project nine months from now.

Regional Minister, Kwaku Kyeremeh said "We want BA to develop so we will extend the project to Sunyani in future."
