Assistant coach of the Black Stars, Ibrahim Tanko has called on the country’s football governing body to keep Mercy Tagoe as the head coach of the Black Queens.

Tagoe led the country’s female national team to win the 2018 maiden edition of the WAFU Women Championship held in Ivory Coast.

However, there have been calls made by some Ghanaian football fans not to hand the team to the former Black Queens player but Tanko believes Tagoe is the best person to handle the squad.

Speaking to Class Sports' Hussein Hassan on the sidelines of the maiden Bissa Keep Fit Club workout session at the Independence Square, the former Borussia Dortmund Forward said: “After winning the WAFU championship in Ivory Coast, I don’t think taking the team from her will be a good decision,”

“For the short while that she has handled the team, she has been able to win a trophy and you can see that everything is going on well and so for me, I think the FA should maintain her as the head coach of the Black Queens,” he added.
