Railways Development Minister, Joe Ghartey has extolled government for assiduously working to fulfill their promises to Ghanaians. According to him, the dignity of politics has been restored in the country trough consistent efforts of the NPP government to improve the lives of Ghanaians; refraining from the culture of ‘words’ but ‘litte or no action’.

Speaking to Ghanaweb on the sidelines of the National Thanksgiving service held by the party to commemorate their victory in the 2016 polls, Mr. Ghartey, said that though challenges exist in every government, the NPP administration is making efforts to correct their flaws to ensure that every pledge made to citizens is achieved, a thing Ghanaians are already noticing and appreciating.

“We had a fair idea before we came into government that the economy was not in the best of shapes in spite of that the managers of the economy, Finance Minister under the direction of the President has done remarkably well….we see the challenges as opportunities and I think that slowly and steadily, the people of Ghana are saying we are fulfilling our promises…the most important thing that has happened is that we have brought dignity back to politics”.

“I don’t think that anything has happened that if you have been in government before you don’t expect to happen”, he said.

He touted government’s Free SHS as being one major achievement that has taken a huge burden off the shoulders of parents, particularly, parents who couldn’t afford the fees of their wards despite the challenges that came with it.

“For people who have problems paying their school fees, I don’t think that fulfilling the promise of Free SHS is a joke, I don’t think its campaigning. If you are in school and you haven’t paid your fees and they come and announce in the dining hall that you haven’t paid your fees go home, then you’ll understand what the President has done for people. If you are an MP and parents come to your house, the children themselves come to your house, with tears in their eyes, for school fees, they don’t have money to pay, then you’ll understand what the President has done”, he stated.

He maintains that government is on course to realize all its promises.
