The Energy Ministry has barred individuals from lifting contaminated oil from Ghana’s Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST).

Sector Minister Boakye Agyarko told Parliament on Thursday that the directive is part of interim measures by the Ministry to prevent the supply of contaminated fuel on the market.

According to him, the move has been necessitated by the difficulty to track the whereabouts of some products lifted from BOST.

This comes on the heels of the BOST scandal in which some five million litres of substandard fuel was reportedly brought onto the market by Movenpinna Energy and Zup Oil.
